Qatar University

Since its inception in 1973, Qatar University has served as the nation’s most prominent and sole national institution for higher education. The university aims to promote the cultural and scientific development of Qatari society while preserving its Arabic characteristics and maintaining its Islamic cultural heritage.

The university is home to nearly 8,000 students from more than 52 countries that take advantage of the widest range of academic options in Qatar. The university has well-established infrastructure that includes advanced research laboratories, an ocean vessel, cutting-edge technical equipment and well-equipped library facilities.

It also offers more than 60 specializations housed in seven colleges:

  • Arts and Sciences
  • Business and Economics
  • Education
  • Engineering
  • Law
  • Pharmacy
  • Sharia and Islamic Studies

The campus is divided into two adjacent sections for male and female students. Both the men’s and women’s campuses have their own lecture halls, laboratories, and learning-support facilities. The university boasts a 13-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio.

Qatar University’s alumni community includes more than 30,000 graduates, including its current president. The institution is proud to have graduated a list of distinguished alumni, including H.H. Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation and UNESCO's Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education.

The university campus is situated on the northern edge of Doha, approximately 16 kilometers from the city center.
