Based on public health data and indicators of the prevalence of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in society, including the passing of the peak stage, low curve and weak reproductive number of the virus, Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Crisis Management said it has been decided to start the second stage of the gradual opening on July 1, 2020.

In the second phase of reopening, the Supreme Committee said mosques would remain open to worshipers in a controlled manner, all gatherings in public and private places would be limited to a maximum of five persons, and violations and related penalties would be applied to violators. The limit on gatherings has been brought down from 10 to five as many new cases among Qataris were traced to gatherings in majilises and family visits. Meanwhile, increased interactions and laxity in adhering to precautionary measures were blamed for a surge in infections among white-collar residents.
